MILFORD, Mass. — Plymouth, Mass.-based Volta Oil launched a new store brand with the opening of its first Garrett’s Family Market. The 5,000-square-foot store is intended to reflect the changing needs and desires of today’s consumer, according to company President Peter Garrett.
Here's a look inside the store that opened in January 2019 in Milford, Mass. A second store in this model is coming to Cape Cod, set to open in late spring 2020.
The U-shaped checkout counter is positioned directly in front of the store entrance and is well-stocked with impulse items.
Wood gondolas and locally sourced snacks reflect the location’s New England setting. The wooden crate shelves themselves and shiplap decor reflect Garrett’s New England roots.
The fountain area is a compact island within Garrett’s and offers customer favorites alongside flavored sparkling waters and craft sodas.
The “tasty” foodservice area leads with fresh fruit but offers much more, including a variety of prepackaged and fresh grab-and-go items such as salads and sandwiches.
A Dunkin’ with drive-thru offers a branded QSR alternative to Garrett’s foodservice.
All aisles lead to the “cool” cold vault, with 16 doors of waters, CSDs, energy drinks and more.
Inside, the store has seating for 18. Outside there’s seating for 16.
